Versatility Tournament at St Vincents

Wednesday 10 March saw the 1st and 2nd Netball Team travel together to a new tournament for them at St Vincents in Hampshire. A total of 23 teams had entered from the Hampshire League which was split between A & B teams.

The weather was sunny but a bitting cold wind cooled the temperature considerably and after a couple of mishaps with Tori and Laura on the sat nav we arrived at St Vincents.

The tournament was well organized and the students at St Vincents played an active role in a very successful day, as runners, time keepers, crowd control to name but a few.

The girls relished the chance of playing different positions and the teams got off to very different starts. The first team won every game until the last which proved to be a disaster for them, losing 3 -1. This meant 3 teams in the group had lost 1 game so it came down to goal difference and we missed out on the semi final by 1 goal.

The 2nd team lost their first two games but then went on to win the next 5 and draw 1. Theirs was a round robin tournament and they finished a very creditable 3rd.

The girls had a great time and got on well with each other, great support and a few surprises for the coach. I am now aware Amelia Stubbs and Lizzie Anderson Easey make creditable shooters and Georgia Williams can intercept balls.

The day finished in McDonalds at Chichester where the girls treated the coach to a Sweet Chilli Chicken Deli (having already bought me a coffee at the tournament) !

A pleasure to take out for the day.
