we arrived in west kent to find that the leisure centre we were playing in had a very small court, the out of bounds was the surrounding walls. it was going to be a tight affair.
running scores were impossible to work out from the jumbled score sheet that was kept. however, individual scoring was kept.
the game was a close affair, we started well & gained an early 10 point advantage in the opening period but west kent rallied. we subbed freely & used our whole bench. west kent hung around & did just enough to stay close. we played some great team basketball & made it look easy in spells. but at the half we only had a slender 6 point lead.
again we made changes & switches on the defensive end but west kent had found their feet & crept into a 3 point lead. we had fallen asleep & went away from what we had been doing well, moving the ball & cutting to their hoop.
we were down heading into the final quarter. but we kept our heads & took the game to west kent on both ends. we frustrated them with our defense & forced them into silly mistakes. we took the lead in the final minutes & west kent lost their cool! 3 of their players picked up technical fouls & louis harris calmly stepped up to the free throw line & sealed the win for us. going away..85-74! a good team win & performance.
