A friendly against Collyers 1st and 2nd team gave all the girls in the Netball Team a chance to show their skills in a competitive environment.
The starting 7 for the 1st team comprised of Amber O’Brien, Georgia Williams, Lizzy Northeast, Lizzie Anderson Easey, Caitlin Kay, Hannah Carey and Bryony Short. They got off to a flying start leading 10-0 after 10 mins, concentration lapsed a little and the score at quarter time was 16-5. The second half commenced with the same pattern as the first, Worthing storming away with the first 10 mins then lapsing again with 5 to go – half time score 32 -10. Three changes were made at half time and although Worthing had a better quarter defensively, only conceding 2, we only scored 10. A further change was made at three quarter time with Hannah Carey moving out of defence to attack and Worthing scored a further 16 to their response of 2 to win the game 58 -14. A satisfactory day, only spoilt by Amber O’Brien fracturing her ankle in training Wed night. This leaves opportunities for others to shine – all is not lost girls.
