Netball Worthing 42 peter Symonds 35

On a bitterly cold afternoon, the girls took to the court in the BCS Cup.

The game started well, with Amber O’Brien converting 100% shots, and Worthing took an early lead 6-2, problems then started with centre court and concentration the lead slipped and Peter Symonds ended the first quarter 12-9. Changes were made with Emma Mountford coming on at GA and Caitlin Kay at GD, with Hannah Carey reverting to GK.

The centre court was still not firing on all cylinders, however Emma’s shooting was excellent and the defense was working really well, with Briony Short taking some great interceptions. The second quarter ended with Worthing leading by 8.

In an effort to try and sort the centre court changes were made with Amy Wilson Hardy coming on at C and Georgia Williams at WA, the opposition came out fired up and put Worthing under pressure on every pass, silly mistakes were made and the shooting accuracy went off, it was a poor quarter which left Worthing with a slender lead of 4 goals at the end of the quarter.

Further changes were made with Nicky and Lizzie coming back on at C and WA.  Worthing held on and in the last few mins stretched their lead to 7 goals.

It was not a convincing win and although the defensive work that we had worked in on training worked well, the centre court movement was limited.

Things to work on after Christmas.

Enjoy the break girls but make sure you keep your fitness levels up.
