Women's Football

Worthing 2-0 Chichester College

Worthing College Women’s football started the season with a 2-0 win against their local rivals with a goal in each half from Sofia Bouyi and Danielle Lane in the ECFA league. After a dominate start which saw Worthing have most of the ball and them camped in Chichester half it was Worthing who created the first chances with Chloe Debaes, Sofia Bouyi and Jordan Lucas all test the Chichester goalkeeper. With the Worthing defence barley being tested but Worthing being wasteful in front of the opposition goal it was a Bouyi corner that broke the deadlock with her scoring straight from the corner, which saw her drill the ball in at the near post and it somehow snuck in between near post and the Chichester goalkeeper. With a 1-0 lead Worthing started to relax and move the ball around well with Lucas, Hale and Bouyi grabbing the initiative in midfield but no more goals came in the 1st half.

The second half started with Chichester coming out and raising the tempo chasing every ball and making plenty of tackles. With this they started to gain more of the ball and test the Worthing defence more without every really testing Lauren Binfield who came on in goal for Britani Wilson at half time. Despite being under more pressure Worthing continued to create chances at the other end with Danielle Lane missing a one on one with the keeper after some good work in midfield. Chichester continued to press for the equaliser throwing more bodies forward and Worthing capitalised on this when Danielle Lane again broke through the defence and this time made no mistake and smashed the ball into the bottom corner of the net. The game finished 2-0, with the games only going to get tougher.
