Worthing started their ESFA cup run with a convincing 6-1 win over Bexhill. Missing their captain Megan Priest and goalkeeper Lauren Binfield Worthing still managed to control the game and take the chances they created.
Chloe Debaes scored a first half hat trick to put Worthing well in command at 3-0 up after 45 minutes. During the first half Worthing’s re-jigged defence were hardly troubled at all with Jordan Lucas and Megan Cave dominating in the centre and Vicki Cornelius and Chloe Lamley giving good support in the wide areas. As the half worn on Cornelius became more adventurous linking with Danielle Lane causing Bexhill problems down the right hand side.
After bringing Debaes off at half time and moving Lane central the 2nd half started in much the same way as the 1st . Worthing well in control and creating more chances than their visitors. Bexhill got back into the game after a bit of sloppy defending which briefly lifted the tempo of their game when they won several corners in a row. But Lane quickly killed the game off with her 1st and Worthing 4th. She added 2 more goals to her and Worthing’s tally in the last 15 minutes.
Player of the Match – Vicki Cornelius – overlapping from full back causing Bexhill lots of trouble as well as a solid defending at the back.
Goal scorers – Chloe Debaes x 3, Danielle Lane x 3
