PETER SYMONS 2
SCORER STEVE LOCKWOOD M.O.M. JACK SYNMONS
"THE ONE THAT GOT AWAY"
With Peter Synoms scoring the winning goal in the dying seconds of the game it made a long journey back from a cold Southampton Leisure Centre, Worthing deserved at least a point from this encounter but it was not meant to be. Traveling away with the bare eleven would mean that it was always going to be a tough match, but
Matches against Peter Symons are traditionally a bad tempered, feisty affair, but not so today, the match was played in a tough, though respectful spirit both sides playing some great quality hockey. Last time we played Peter Symons at home we lost 12-1 so a 2-1 lose away was not a massive disappointment, we are improving as an Academy side and this result is proof that our Hockey is going in the right direction, who knows a Worthing victory in our next encounter ! Well done guys you played some awesome hockey, hopefully we can take that into our cup match against Beacon on Friday

Quarter Finals –
On a bitterly cold afternoon, the netball team took on Hurstpierpoint in the
Changes were made but sadly this had little effect on the game, although we conceded less goals, 9 we only scored 5 – the score at the end of the second quarter was 24-10.
A further change was made at half time and during the third quarter,
Going into the last quarter 31-21 down was hard but 10 goals in netball is never too much and if we had started the 4th quarter as we started the 3rd we would have been in with a chance. Sadly we did not and the final score was 43-26.
A massive disappointment for me, as although on the night the best team won, sadly the
We have some footage of the horror show which we will look at in depth and try and establish what went so badly wrong and why before we go and face Brockenhurst next Wed in the BCS Cup.

After weeks of no games, the
snowy journey to
With no Nicky Gatland and Briony Short, it was a new centre court formation with Lizzy Northeast, Laura Finlay and Caitlin Kay. The opposition appeared older and bigger but we were not daunted and got off to a flying start taking the lead right from the start with excellent shooting from Amber O’brien. The centre court trio were outstanding, probably the best game Lizzy has ever had and Caitlin used all the work we have been doing with timing interceptions to great effect – I lost count of the number of balls she intercepted.
Always a pleasure for a coach when what is worked on it training comes through into the game.
The first quarter ended 12 -7 to
Again
By this time, the girls were complaining it was too hot (rugby boys please take note !!). Laura Finlay was unable to continue due to a foot injury, Lizzie manfully continued despite a sore throat. This was our poorest quarter but to be fair, they had a squad of around 20 players to our 8. We lost this quarter by 1 but were never in danger of losing the game.
Excellent team performance, if we take this into Tuesdays Sussex K/O Cup game against Hurstpierpoint we will be fine.
I would also like to thank my guiders who manager to secure the side door of the mini bus which would not shut to enable us to get home safely, those knots were something else.
Thanks girls – it was a pleasure

Worthing 51- BHASVIC 5
Nevertheless come 2pm chocks away, stick it in the mixer, up the anti, pass out the ammunition lets go to war its ‘Game On’. Early signs were good with the players dismissing the rain from mind and even if temperatures were low the skill level was high.
Onwards and wave after wave bashed crashed and penetrated the defensive line of the visitors with all players playing their part in keeping the massed onlookers happy at missing ‘Doctors’ ‘Bargain Hunt’ and ‘Cash in the Attic’. BHASVIC were manful in their efforts and managed to score mid way through the half after a slight misunderstanding between the
A few changes at the half for the home side and sure as bears utilise the great outdoors for number twos the game went on with the visitors playing some good rugby with ball in hand. Unfortunately missing some of their more influential players meaning anything near respectability would suffice in the second instalment. Although the score line would not tell that story the on field efforts need mentioning in a positive light as rain, mud, puddles and a completely dominant opposition could not break their spirits.
More tries, kicks and tackles followed
The 6 week gap between games was worth the wait as an indifferent training week was completed with a strong performance. It is apparent that there is still work to be done if this group of players are to reach the standards some already believe themselves to achieved. Winning is a habit and a good one, some one has to come first so why not us, but that does not happen at the expense of manners, humility and endeavour, areas at this stage I am unsure we fully appreciate as a squad…. I may be wrong?
A big week to come with a possible county cup ¼ final being the next game, I think a few players have forcefully thrown their hats in to the ring, so good on you.
